Will Poulter’s rise to stardom was a long ways away from a young age. The actor battled both dyspraxia and dyslexia from a young age, and it would lead to struggles academically. However, according to the actor alongside The Scotman, he was able to find an outlet during his struggles, and that was the school of comedy. For Will Poulter, the actor got emotional for a different reason during his BBC interview. Poulter struggled with disorders years before his Hollywood fame, and finding success seemed like a daunting task. However, Will had many influences growing up, and one of them was his math teacher.

Will Poulter Struggled Growing Up But Found An Outlet At School In A Comedy Club

The actor revealed, “I started off with one lesson per week, and then any opportunity to do more, I took. I really don’t know where I’d be without Laura, or how happy I’d be. Laura gave me an amazing opportunity and I got involved with everything she put on at school, whether it was a pantomime, a musical, a play or a sketch show. Then I joined the after school club, School of Comedy, which progressed wildly, and in quite a Hollywood way.”

Still, Poulter went through several struggles, which included losing coordination of his movements.

“My teacher told my mum, ‘I think William has dyspraxia,’ and Mum asked what that meant. She said, ‘Well, if I put a chair in the middle of the room and asked every child in the class to walk around it, William would be the only child in the class to walk into it.’ Mum was like, ‘Yeah, that’s my boy’.”

Despite the struggles, Poulter thrived. Clearly, even with the success he hasn’t forgotten about those that helped along the way, including his math teacher.

Will Poulter Broke Down When His Math Teacher Appeared

In a past interview, Poulter credited teacher Miss Moran for avoiding any type of bullying during his academics, revealing that she played an active role in protecting students.

“We all know important good teachers can be, and you Will mentioned one in your school earlier, and because we’re The One Show we tracked her down, so here’s Miss Moran.”

“I did thankfully have a teacher who was very active in the space,” he admitted.

Given his comments, she brought into the interview as a surprise, and had moving things to say.

“Will I know how difficult things were for you at school and I just want you to know just how unbelievably proud I was of you then and continue to be today. You’re a true inspiration and will always have my active support. Thank you for being you.”

Will needed a second to catch himself following the moment. He said, “Wow that’s amazing. I didn’t expect that, she’s amazing, thank you.”
